Last September I was honored to be invited to the opening ceremony to the Exhibition in the National Museum of China. It was so nice to be back in Beijing again. So much changes in a short of a few years. I was so happily surprised to meet my old artist friend Mr. Jiang. It has been almost 20 years since our last meeting in China. He was also a successful artist residing in Japan for the last 2 decades. We had great discussion about art, life and people we knew during our time there. It was such a great feeling to stroll around the museum with a good old friend. I also had an opportunity meeting another good friend of mine- Deborah, whom I hadn't been seeing for almost 20 years. Most interestingly, I met artist Liang from VA, not far from us. We had a lot in common and it was a great pleasure talking to him. In addition, we also visited Chengde- a beautiful place where the Emperors in Qin Dynasty used to go for summer vacations. Overall, I had a great time in Beijing!
Another joy was that while I was visiting my family in Nanning, Guangxi. The Staff at the Guangxi TV heard my story and were very interested in filming a documentary on my journey of art, since my works are primarily rooted in my ethnic culture and my work has brought the unique culture to the people of the world, e.g. the Spring Song ballet dance based on my work- Tapestry of Dreams, premiered in NYC in Spring 2009. So I agreed and they followed everywhere- even having dinner with my family, as if i were a movie star, it was fun. They paln to come to my studio in December.. so more to do then...
I'm happy to be back home now and I'm making every effort to get ready for my coming Studio Show from Oct.27- Nov.11.
