Power In Harmony by Shanye Huang    

2012 is the Year of Golden Dragon, taking place only once every 60 years, and promising to be an exciting and auspicious year.

The Dragon is deeply rooted in Chinese culture and is the mightiest and most auspicious of all the Chinese iconography. It is noteworthy that it is also the Year of the Dragon for Vietnamese (Tet), Koreans (Seollai), Mongolians (TsagaanSar), Japanese, Cambondians, Lao and Thai.

In celebration of this wise and caring creature, the symbol of power and prosperity, Chinese –American artist Shanye Huang especially made this painting- Power in Harmony. In this work, the artist painted the dragon in green colors, centered on the word “Peace in both English & Chinese”. The painting expressed the artist’s sincere wish for all the Powers in this world to stand by each other and work together harmoniously for the great goodness of the whole humanity on the earth. 

The work –Power in Harmony was on exhibit at Metropolitan Center for the Visual Arts/ VisArts Gibbs Street Gallery from Jan.9 to 26.
